Within the Project Engineering Team, you will design Custom Change Kits to interface Chroma Thermal Systems to our Customers Semiconductor Devices Under Test “DUTs”. Additionally, design of Custom Gantry, Rack and Enclosure products as required. Under limited supervision, conducts and leads design work for new and existing company products. Responsible for the accuracy and utility of all drawing. Creates and maintains Bill of Material (BOM), Operation and Maintenance Manuals, and all design calculations required both for the initial design and subsequent production. Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing, Sales and customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Customers and Sales to Determine Design Requirements
  • Review of customer Drawing and CAD Models
  • Design Change Kits: Custom Interfacing components between Customer (Devices, Sockets and PCB’s) and Chroma Thermal Forcing Systems.
  • Design Custom Thermal Forcing Systems, Racks, and Enclosures
  • Mechanical Design in SolidWorks. Developing 3D Assemblies, and 2D Drawings
  • Conduct Design Reviews both internally and externally with Customer, Production and Sales
  • Support for Production Team: Developing Instructions and Processes
  • Develop new manufacturing processes as needed using internal and external resources and capabilities.
  • Provide engineering assistance to field support and Production personnel.
  • Perform system design and engineering.
  • Perform equipment selection, request and review submittals.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to evaluate design options and make informed decisions.
  • Conduct FMEA and other analyses aimed at ensuring designs are safe and economical.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, models, and specifications according to industry standards and best practices.
  • Generate Bill of Materials and develop detailed technical drawings following ASME and internal standards.
  • Perform customer and vendor site visits as needed at various stages of a project.
  • Confer with engineering peers, operations personnel, and program management to implement operating procedures, troubleshoot non-conforming products, and provide technical information.
  • Collaborate with teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints throughout the company.
  • Attend design review, design development, company, office, and department meetings.
  • Assemble, install, and operate prototype designs to evaluate compliance with requirements.
  • Design/conduct experiments and perform verification testing to ensure efficacy of proposed solutions.
  • Prototype, test, and iterate designs to verify functionality, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Generate and execute engineering change orders.
  • Peer review other engineers' projects.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs and optimize performance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to evaluate design options and make informed decisions.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to mechanical design.
  • Proactively engage in all aspects of the company safety program.
  • Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop new products that meet or exceed performance, cost, and schedule metrics.
  • Travel up to 20%

Qualification and Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and other engineering tools for design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations
  • Understanding of various types of metals used to manufacture custom testing set ups
  • Must approach projects and assigned tasks in a timely manner

Preferred

  • Equipment Installation/Service/Maintenance Experience
  • Thermal equipment control and knowledge
  • Working experience or knowledge of semiconductor or optic industry
  • 1+ years on relative job function and experience on fields of service or application
